Adobe, the maker of the popular photo-editing software Photoshop, launched a basic version available for free online. While Photoshop is designed for trained professionals, Photoshop Express, is easier to learn. Photoshop Express is completely Web-based so you can use it with any type of computer, operating system and browser.
I would predict that most consumer applications would move to the web as bandwidth increases and browsers become more capable of hosting robust applications.
